Q4 2015 Set For Intense Election Calendar
The fourth quarter (Q4) of 2015 looks set to be a very busy period for elections worldwide, with October being especially intense. Elections often mean rising political risks, as governments change hands, or candidates resort to populist stances on the campaign trail. In some cases, elections will produce inconclusive outcomes, or outcomes will lead to violence.
We are currently preparing our quarterly Global Political Outlook for the remainder of 2015 and the entirety of 2016, and are updating our global election tables accordingly.
The following elections stand out:
September 20: Greece.
September 27: Catalonia, Spain.
October 4: Portugal and Kyrgyzstan.
October 11: Belarus, Burkina Faso, and Guinea.
October 18: Central African Republic, Egypt, Switzerland, and Ukraine's Donetsk region.
October 19: Canada.
October 25: Argentina, Cote d'Ivoire, Poland, and Tanzania; local elections in Bulgaria, Colombia, and Ukraine.
November: Azerbaijan, India's state of Bihar, Japan's Osaka region, Moldova's breakaway region of Transnistria, Myanmar, and Turkey (for the second time this year).
December: Spain and Venezuela, and France's regional elections.
Full coverage of these events, and others, will be available in our subscription service. Meanwhile, our Global Political Outlook Q4 2015-2016 will be published in late September.
