Is The Mexican Growth Story Still On Track?

Last week, quarterly real GDP growth in Mexico disappointed Bloomberg consensus expectations for the third time in four quarters, coming in at 0.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) in Q413, as compared to survey of 1.0% y-o-y. The weak GDP print prompted us to moderately revise down our 2014 growth forecast, and has led many analysts to question whether the Mexican growth story, which has gained attention in recent quarters on the back of President Enrique Peña Nieto's ambitious reform drive, remains on track.
