Lyndsey Anderson

Global Head of Research

Managing the Country Risk and Industry teams globally, Lyndsey oversees the day to day running of our research department. She plays a leading role in tying together the teams’ regional macroeconomic and financial market views with our industry and company views, to inform our regional and global strategy. Lyndsey also works closely with the sales teams to support clients in their use of our research and to assist in the ongoing development of our content. Lyndsey joined BMI Research in 2005, initially as an analyst on the Consumer Industries team.  She then assumed a broader role, managing all of BMI Research’s Industry analysis.  Prior to joining BMI Research, Lyndsey worked for a London-based consumer research consultancy.

Cedric Chehab

Cedric is part of BMI Research’s Global Strategy Team, where he helps ensure the coherence of global macro strategy, macro and commodities strategy, and macro and industry strategy. Currently based in Singapore, Cedric previously served as Head of Asia Research, where he was responsible for all Asia-based country risk analysis and industry research. Before that he was Head of Americas Research, based in New York. From 2008 to 2010, Cedric worked in London as Head of Commodities Research and Strategy. Cedric has also worked in management consulting at Accenture. He holds an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Essex.

Marina heads BMI Research’s global industry research team, as well as the energy & infrastructure hub. In this role, Marina provides strategic guidance and coordination between the different areas of industry research across BMI Research to ensure that there is coherence between macro and industry analysis and that all forecasts and industry insights stay ahead of the curve and consistently add value. Based in London, Marina’s industry expertise is in the energy sector – both the conventional and unconventional oil & gas sectors, as well as infrastructure development policy in North America, Europe, Africa, China and the Middle East. Prior to joining BMI Research in 2007, Marina interned at the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Istanbul, the Ministry of Merchant Marine in Athens, and the Office of the Political Advisor to the Commander, NATO HQ, Brunssum, Netherlands. Marina holds a degree in War Studies, and an M.A. in International Security and Development, both from King's College London.

Michelle Karavias

Michelle’s role incorporates analysis and strategy for the infrastructure, power and energy sectors. In particular, Michelle brings expertise in electricity generation, public-private partnerships in the transport sector, project finance, as well as company and equity analysis. Michelle joined BMI Research in 2008 as an Infrastructure Analyst and was promoted to Senior Analyst in 2010. In 2011 Michelle relocated to New York to assist in establishing the Americas research team. She holds a 1st Class Honours degree in American Studies from the University of Nottingham and did related coursework at the University of Toronto.

Yoel manages the political risk analysis across the research team and coordinates the publication of BMI Research’s quarterly Global Political Outlook. He is also responsible for crafting risk scenarios and coordinating a suite of special reports that integrate key political, economic, and sector analysis into a holistic view of global developments. Yoel joined BMI Research in 2003 and was its Head of Asia Research from 2006 to 2009. Yoel has a Bachelor’s degree in geography from Oxford University, and a Master’s degree in Theory and History of International Relations from the London School of Economics.

Tim is responsible for coordinating and developing the company’s global macroeconomic assumptions and forecasts, and tying them together with the industry sector teams' micro views to produce a holistic view of global trends. He is also editor of BMI Research's flagship global macroeconomic monthly publication, Global Macro Monitor. Tim joined the company in 2005. Prior to his current role, Tim was a principal member of the company’s Latin America and Asia teams, and was the primary analyst for the US economy. His pre-BMI Research career included positions at the Yale Center for the Study of Globalisation and the UK Houses of Parliament. Tim holds a BA from Yale University, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and he is a CFA charter holder.

Between 2009 and 2014, Lisa managed the Sub-Saharan Africa country risk team, travelling frequently to the region to meet clients and conduct on-the-ground research. Lisa joined BMI Research in 2007 as an analyst covering Emerging Markets. Prior to joining the company, Lisa held a business development role at Aberdeen Asset Management, and before that, lived and worked in Ghana. Lisa holds an MA in Economics from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.

John is part of BMI Research’s Global Strategy Team, where he focuses on commodities, macroeconomics and sectors, and is responsible for producing thematic analysis and overseeing forecasts from the wider research team. Based in London, John has been at BMI Research since April 2009, when he joined as a commodities analyst. John went on to manage the commodities research team between 2011 and 2016, overseeing industry analysis and price forecasting for over 20 commodities across energy, metals and agriculture, before taking his current role in March 2016. Prior to BMI Research, he spent a year at the UK Treasury where he analysed trends in the UK economy as a member of the Treasury’s Macroeconomic Analysis Team. John holds a BSc in Economics and Politics from the University of Bath.

Prior to that, he worked at PharmaProjects, where he tracked investigational drugs through clinical trials. Jamie graduated from King’s College, London with a degree in Pharmacology with Management.

Based in London, she joined the BMI in 2007. Katherine Weber leads a team of Country Risk analysts responsible for political and economic forecasts for North and South America. She is also the lead analyst for Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Central America. Prior to her current role, Katherine was on BMI Research’s Country Risk and Financial Markets team for Latin America. She joined BMI Research in 2011 and is based in New York. Prior to joining BMI Research, Katherine worked as a researcher for the Center for European Policy Analysis in Washington, D.C. She holds a Masters in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. She also has a BA in International Affairs from Skidmore College.

Christopher spearheads research across BMI Research's global oil and gas team, covering upstream segment including unconventionals, frontier and deepwater exploration, LNG market, downstream and fuels markets, and the oil field services sector.  He is an expert in liquefied natural gas, unconventional Oil & Gas, and enhanced oil recovery, and has a keen interest in innovation within the Oil & Gas sector.  Based in London, Christopher joined BMI Research in 2013. Before joining BMI Research, he spent two years at RWE, the German energy utility, plus three years in a similar research role in London, where he led a team of energy analysts. Christopher holds an Honours degree in European Studies from the University of Portsmouth, and has also studied at IULM University, Milan.

Aurelia leads BMI Research’s commodity fundamental analysis and price strategy, managing a team that covers 20 commodities across energy, industrial and precious metals, softs and grains. Based in Singapore, Aurelia joined BMI Research in 2012. Aurelia previously worked in China, Hong Kong and France, doing macroeconomic research for the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, Bretagne International and for the consultancy SynTao. Aurelia holds a Master’s Degree in International Economics and Political Sciences from Sciences Po Bordeaux.

Prior to joining BMI Research, Julie was a research analyst at eStandards Forum and the UK House of Lords. She holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BA from Carnegie Mellon University.

Lucas dos Santos specialises in European macroeconomics and financial markets, with a special focus on Turkey and Russia. In July 2015, Lucas' mandate on the research team was broadened to include the coordination of BMI's financial market strategy across the entire EMEA region, requiring close collaboration with the Singapore and New York offices. Lucas holds a master's degree in economics from New York University and joined BMI's London office as a Europe Country Risk Analyst in 2013 after spending time on the Bloomberg economic data team.

Nick manages BMI Research's Data team. In this role, he has responsibility for the company's forecasting methodologies, including monitoring our forecasting success, and data sourcing and update practices. Based in London and heavily involved in BMI's South Africa office, Nick has been at BMI since 2013. Nick holds an MSc in Politics of China from SOAS and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Durham University. He has passed Level III of the CFA exams.

Laura Holland focuses on the development of BMI's content on our premium subscription platform, leveraging her experience as an analyst to ensure BMI's research is accessible to clients. She worked on the development of BMI's CMS alongside her role as Head of ICT in London and New York. Laura joined BMI Research in 2007 as a Telecommunications analyst based in London. She was named head of the Telecommunications team in 2009, and expanded her responsibilities to include Information Technology and Consumer Electronics in 2011. Before joining BMI Research, Laura worked for Brasilprev Seguros e Previdência S.A in São Paulo, Brazil. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and Hispanic Studies from the University of Birmingham, and also studied in Portugal and Mexico

Nick worked at BMI Research between 2000 and 2007 managing the Industry portfolio before moving to Informa, where he worked initially as an analyst covering the ICT sector and then latterly as head of telecoms & media consulting services. Nick re-joined BMI in 2016.

Daniel leads a team of Country Risk analysts responsible for political and economic forecasts in the Middle East and North Africa. Based in London, he is also the lead analyst for Egypt and the UAE. Daniel joined BMI in June 2010 and prior to his current role he worked on the Sub-Saharan Africa Country Risk team with a focus on West Africa, and Nigeria in particular. Daniel has an MA in International Relations of the Middle East and a BA in Arabic, both from the University of Exeter. He originally covered Africa and the Middle East for BMI's Shipping and Freight Transport team, before transferring to Country Risk. He speaks French and Arabic and has passed Level 1 of the CFA designation.

Chua Han Teng is Head of Asia Country Risk and Financial Markets based in Singapore and joined BMI Research in 2014. He leads a team of analysts responsible for Asian political, economic, and financial markets analysis, and is also responsible for the coverage of China, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand. Prior to joining BMI Research, Han Teng interned with the Product Strategy team at BSI Bank Limited, and the Investment Banking team with RHB Banking Group. He holds a BSc in Economics, with a second major in Finance, from the Singapore Management University.

Andrew Shepherd

Andrew's hybrid role at BMI Research involves both analysis of the global energy markets and project management. Based in London, his analytical duties include forecasting energy prices and covering the global renewables market, as well as working with the oil & gas team to assess the impact of global fuel-price dynamics on electricity markets. Andrew is also responsible for the project management of BMI Research’s Key Projects Database, which is a major component of the company’s heavy industry coverage. He remotely manages a team in India, and regularly travels to Delhi to oversee the delivery of key project milestones.     Prior to joining BMI Research in 2010, Andrew worked as a journalist for a UK-based press agency. His first job was at Bloomberg News, where he was recruited from the post-graduate journalism programme at City University in London. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Leeds in 2006.

Francesco Menonna is a Senior Power and Renewables Analyst at BMI Research. He specialises in the Americas power and renewables markets, focusing his analysis on country-specific developments and global trends shaping the electric power industry. Francesco joined BMI Research in 2014 and is currently based in London. Prior to joining BMI Research, he was an intern research analyst for the International Energy Forum. He also worked at the  Embassy of Italy in Beijing as the Assistant to the Counselor for Technological and Industrial Innovation. Francesco received a MA in International Economics and International Relations with a concentration on Energy from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC.  He earned a BA in Political Sciences from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome.

Based in BMI Research's London office, Emma covers all key aspects of the oil and gas sector. Her main geographical focus is the Middle East and African markets, both emerging and established, and she has a strong understanding of the industry globally. Her particular expertise is in the crude oil and LNG markets, playing a central role in BMI Research's price forecasting and commodity market analyses. Emma joined BMI Research in January 2014, and was previously employed in the non-governmental sector. She has worked for both scientific and environmental NGOs, as a researcher and analyst. In this capacity she spearheaded several research projects, addressing issues of food and energy security in the UK. She also has a strong background in political and security risk, and brings this experience to the team in their wider strategic analyses. She has a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Leeds.

Dexter also focuses on specific areas, such as regulation, the Internet of Things, and evolving business models through the availability of connectivity, and has often quoted in the media. A French citizen, Dexter holds a MA in European Studies form King's College London.
