Toshiba To Supply Equipment To Geothermal Power Plant

News: Japan-based technology company Toshiba has secured a contract to supply equipment, including turbines, generators and condensers, for the Alasehir geothermal power plant in Turkey's Manisa Province. Toshiba will install two systems with a total capacity of 40MW, including a 30MW flash steam generation system that will pull hot water under high pressure into a separator to produce steam. The other system is a 10MW binary cycle power facility that will use lower temperature fluid to vaporize a liquid with a lower boiling point. The installation of the equipment is scheduled to start in October 2014. Zorlu Enerji Grubu's subsidiary Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Üretim will construct the power plant. The geothermal facility is expected to commence operations in 2015.
