TN Mobile Launches 3G Network

News: Incumbent operator Telecom Namibia's mobile unit, TN Mobile, has rolled out its 3G services in Omuthiya, Namibia. The network offers speeds of up to 21Mbps via the HSPA+ technology. TN Mobile's 3G services have already launched in Windhoek, Swakopmund, Langstrand, Ondangwa, Ongwediva, Henties Bay, Ohangwena and Oshikango. TN Mobile is planning to launch its 3G services in Tsumeb, Keetmanshoop and Ruacana in the week ending April 5.

BMI View : The launch is expected to help the operator cater to the rising demand for 3G services in Namibia. BMI estimates that there will be 732,600 3G/4G subscribers in 2014 and expects the total to rise 76% by 2018 to 1.29mn. During this period the 3G/4G mobile penetration will rise from 25.2% to 42.5%.
