Supply Disruptions Lead To Increased Imports

News: Disruptions in gas supply from Libya's eastern gas fields have led to a threefold increase in the country's diesel and fuel imports to keep power stations operational, reports Reuters, citing a senior official at the National Oil Company. The energy crisis has been triggered by the shutdown of pipelines and oil ports in the country by armed groups, security guards and oil workers with tribal loyalties. Gas supply from the eastern fields has completely stopped, the official said. However, the onshore Wafa gas field in the NC169A concession, along the Libyan-Algerian border, is proving to be an important gas source for Libyan power plants during the ongoing crisis, the official added.
