News: Irish shipping and port activity registered a 3% year-on-year rise in Q313, according to the latest quarterly iShip Index and quarterly traffic review published by the Irish Maritime and Development Office on November 29. The iShip index posted 832 points in Q313 and grew by 6% in January-September 2013. Three of the five main domestic freight segments also recorded a rise in Q313. The growth in Q313 was largely driven by an 8% surge in ro-ro trailer volumes to 224,954 units. However, during the period, container traffic (lift on/lift off) fell by 2% to 149,423 units.
