Senator Urges To Reject Governor’s Insurance Plan

News: Pennsylvania's Senator Vincent Hughes has urged the Obama administration to reject the state Governor Tom Corbett's proposal to provide health insurance to newly eligible people for Medicaid via private insurers. The Senator has asked the administration to expand its Medicaid rolls immediately claiming that it will provide insurance coverage to around 500,000 people and the Pennsylvania state would receive US$400mn in federal subsidies. The Governor's proposal, which seeks alteration in the Medicaid system by reducing few benefits to avoid future cost pressures, is unlikely to expand coverage for eligible individuals until January 1 2015.
