Samaco, the exclusive importer of German automakers Volkswagen (VW) and Audi vehicles in Saudi Arabia, has opened a new service centre for both brands in Jeddah. The centre includes 46 platforms for service, six for direct service and seven for Internet troubleshooting. The importer aims to further improve its customer service to Volkswagen and Audi customers in the area through the new centre.
Although BMI has identified the growing acceptance of volume brands as a trend in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, there is still consistent demand for premium products. High-end carmakers in the Middle East are registering strong growth, as BMI believes that any lingering credit restrictions in the region will have little impact on consumers in this segment. The UAE and Saudi Arabia have continued to be among the better performing markets for some of the leading brands, with sport utility vehicles (SUVs) still proving to be one of the strongest vehicle segments. We are optimistic that the recovery will continue in most Middle East markets and we retain our view that the premium segment will sustain its popularity.
