News: Hungarian retail sales rose 6.7% year-on-year (y-o-y) in February on a calendar-adjusted basis, which was the highest rate recorded since December, according to data published by the Central Statistical Office on April 3. The rise in February follows an increase of 6.2% in January. Growth recorded for the second consecutive month has surpassed economists' estimations of a 5% rise. Retail sales, on an unadjusted basis, recorded the same growth rates for the two months as on a calendar-adjusted basis. Food, drinks and tobacco sales grew 8.4% while non-food sales rose 4%. A rise of 6.4% was recorded in sales of automotive fuel (RTT).
