Regulator Introduces Coverage Regulations

News: Peruvian telecoms regulator Osiptel introduced regulations to ensure reasonable coverage by telecoms operators in areas where they claim to have a coverage. The new measures will require operators to cover 30% of any province, district or town in which they operate within the next 12 months, increasing to 45% and 60% over the subsequent two years. The operators would also be obliged to provide their coverage information on their websites. The regulator also asked the operators to submit quarterly reports to it with details pertaining to all base stations and repeaters, along with their advertised coverage for each service.
