Regulator Extends Expiry Date Of GSM Licences

News: The Hungarian telecoms regulator has confirmed that it has extended the expiry dates of all mobile network operators' licences. The new expiry date of all the licences has been harmonised. Vodafone, Telenor and Magyar Telecom will be required to pay US$436mn for the extensions to April 2022. The licences were originally due to expire on different dates in October 2014. Additionally, an auction for the 900MHz spectrum will be proposed by the regulator. The auction will be designed to attract a new entrant to the market, but will also be open to the incumbents.
