Protest Halts Border Traffic
News: Traffic flow ceased between Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) owing to the temporary closure of the Chirundu and Kasumbalesa border posts for most of the week ended September 21, reports FTW Online. The Chirundu border lies between Zimbabwe and Zambia and is the main route for traffic travelling from Harare in Zimbabwe to Lusaka in Zambia. The Kasumbalesa post, which links Zambia with the DRC, was closed as truck drivers on the Zambian side staged a protest over the shooting of a Zimbabwean driver in the DRC. Peace has been restored in the region, and the backlog is expected to clear in the next few days.
