Port Of Prince Rupert Registers 7.12% Decline In Total Tonnage

News: Canada's Prince Rupert port registered a 7.12% year-on-year decline in total tonnage to 1.67mn tonnes in January 2014, compared with 1.8mn tonnes during the same period a year ago. The port reported a 23.6% fall in cargo handling to 617,031 tonnes in the month, compared with 807,645 tonnes in January 2013. The port posted a 5.7% decline in tonnage moved through the operation to 436,992.5 tonnes in January 2014, compared with 463,580.1 tonnes a year ago. The Fairview terminal also registered a 5.3% fall in cargo handling to 49,191.8 twenty-foot equivalent units during January 2014, compared with 51,923.5 tonnes in January 2013.
