News: Port of Los Angeles officials have unveiled business strategies to address competition in the future during the regular Board of Harbor Commissioners meeting held on February 20, reports Los Angeles Daily News. The officials stated the strategies are required to ensure that the port retains and expands its position as an international shipping hub. The outlined strategies comprise of focus on new customer and shipping alliances, in addition to collaborations with terminals. Meanwhile, a 3% rise in container business on a yearly basis and expansion of export business are included in the port's objectives. In addition, the port will target a 10% rise in cargo support revenues and rentals like trucking, warehouses, rail, tugs and barges.
