Pioneer Resources Announces Mineral Resource Estimate For Nickel Mine

News: ASX-listed Pioneer Resources has announced an initial mineral resource estimate for its Blair nickel mine in western Australia. The project is estimated to contain a mineral resource of 22,2710 tonnes (t) of nickel sulphide, according to Pioneer MD David Crook. The initial estimate revealed 75560t of indicated resource and a 2.92% nickel grade. The project is likely to deliver 6510t of nickel metal, the company stated.

BMI View : The scheduled release of several key mining projects in Australia will continue to drive nickel production higher over the coming years. We expect nickel output to increase from 246kt in 2012 to 291kt by 2017, increasing at a healthy clip of 3.4% per annum.
