Pharma Exports Rise 10.5% In April

News: Pharmaceutical exports from India increased 10.5% year-on-year to USD1.26bn in April, according to data from the commerce ministry. Indian pharma exports posted the slowest growth in at least 15 years at 1.2% to USD14.84bn in the 2013-14 fiscal year amid growing tension with the US over intellectual property rights related issues. Commerce ministry officials are reportedly expecting a healthy rate of growth in pharma exports, particularly to Africa. '2013-14 has seen a slowdown in growth because of the US raising concerns and due to an increase in global competition,' the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) Executive Director PV Appaji said. However, Appaji said that the sector is expected to record growth of around 12% in 2014-15.
