PepsiCo Selects Schenker To Operate Four Distribution Centres

News: US food and drinks company PepsiCo has selected German logistics company DB Schenker Logistics to operate four new regional distribution centres in Poland. The facilities are located in Warsaw, ŁÃ³dź, Kraków and Kielce, with a total area of around 25,000 square metres. As per the contract, Schenker will also manage around 50 transhipment platforms and transport from factories to the regional centres and from the centres back to the transhipment platforms.

BMI View: European rail freight giant DB Schenker's market share expansion strategy is gathering steam, with the firm announcing projects that will expand its exposure in Europe. The firm plans to increase its market share in Europe to 30%. BMI notes that it began 2011 well in this respect, resuming operations of the Asia-Europe Landbridge and more recently starting new rail freight initiatives in the Baltic States and the UK.
