Peel Ports To Implement Navis’ N4 Terminal Operating System

News: US technology services firm Navis has confirmed plans to provide its N4 terminal operating system to UK shipyard network operator Peel Ports. The technology will enable the company to manage operations across its eight facilities in the UK, the Journal of Commerce reports. Peel Ports' network receives 26,000 vessels and processes 65mn tonnes of goods on a yearly basis. The N4 system will be applied and integrated gradually between 2013 and 2017.

BMI View: The UK's largest port in terms of tonnage handled will continue to be the port of Grimsby and Immingham in 2013, with the port also set to record steady y-o-y growth over the next 12 months. The projected 3.30% increase at Grimsby and Immingham in 2013 is set to be beaten only by two other ports, Southampton and Felixstowe, with 4.27% and 3.36%, respectively. Tonnage is set to rise from 60.45mnt to just above 67mnt at Grimsby and Immingham over the mid term to 2017. The UK's second largest port by tonnage carried is Milford Haven, which is set for a small y-o-y increase of 1.77% in 2013.
