News In Brief: TransCanada Wins Suncor US$660mn Deal

News: Canadian pipeline operator TransCanada has secured a contract from Suncor Energy for the construction of a 90 kilometre (km) pipeline in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Under the contract, the company will design, construct, own and operate the CAD660mn (US$659mn) Northern Courier pipeline. Once completed, the pipeline will transport bitumen and diluent between the Fort Hills mine and the Voyageur upgrader. The pipeline is likely to be completely subscribed by Fort Hills.

The Fort Hills mine is a joint venture between Suncor Energy (40.8%), Total (39.2%) and Teck Resources (20%).
