News In Brief: Loan Moves LNG Terminal Ahead

News: Poland's Gaz-System has secured a US$96.76mn loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with which it will begin the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Polish city of Swinoujscie. The 12-year loan aims to reduce Poland's dependence on Russian gas. The new terminal will provide Poland and its Central as well as Eastern European neighbours with access to the international LNG market. Presently, Poland is almost entirely dependent on gas from Russia-based natural gas company Gazprom.
