News In Brief - Keppel, Petronas In Negotiations For Pengerang Gas-Fired Plant

News: Singapore-based Keppel and Malaysia-based oil giant Petroliam Nasional (Petronas) are in talks regarding the construction of a gas-fired power plant in Pengerang, Malaysia, reports the Straits Times. The power generated from the plant will be supplied to Petronas' MYR60bn (US$19.52bn) refinery and petrochemicals integrated complex that is in the pipeline for Pengerang, as well as to Singapore's power grid. Keppel may acquire a 30% stake in the plant, which will have a power generation capacity of 1,200MW. The deal will be the first investment involving a Singaporean company in the Malaysian power sector.
