News In Brief: Eni Spuds Salina Probe

News: Norway-based Eni Norge has spudded the 7220/10-1 well on the Salina prospect in the PL533 licence in the Barents Sea. The well is being drilled using the Scarabeo 8 semi-submersible rig and is aimed at verifying the existence of hydrocarbons in the reservoir. The well is being drilled in water depths of 341m, with drilling likely to be completed in about 54 days.

Eni is the operator of the well with a 40% stake, working alongside partners Lundin Norway, Det norske oljeselskap and RWE Dea Norge with 20% each.
