New Outpatient Pharmacy System Reduces Time And Errors

News: Singapore General Hospital's (SGH) automated outpatient pharmacy system has reduced the time taken to complete prescriptions by 50%, lowered manpower requirements and reduced administrative errors in the hospital, reports futuregov.asia. Singapore's health ministry's information technology arm Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS) and SGH's administration jointly implemented the outpatient pharmacy system, also known as the Automated RFID Prescription Drug Delivery System (APDS). APDS includes a pharmacy dispensing workflow mechanism and software that optimises processes, such as a dispensing system that allows machines to pick, package and label medicines. It also has a LED light guiding system for selecting medicines manually and a RFID-enabled conveyor that transports, auto-assembles and transports packaged items to the dispensing counters.
