New Container Terminal To Start Operations By April-May

News: A new container terminal at the Omani port of Sohar is likely to become operational by April-May 2014, according to Sohar Industrial Port Company CEO Andre Toet. The terminal will have a maximum capacity of 11,000-twenty-foot-equivalent-units (TEUs) and will boost the terminal's overall capacity from 800,000TEUs to 1.5mn TEUs. The container terminal will be built by Oman International Container Terminal at a cost of more than US$130mn, said Toet. The port will operate with the aim of leading the international market by focusing on key growth markets which includes the Middle East, China, South Korea, India and Brazil (Zawya).
