Ministry To Tender Three Train Projects In Early 2014

News: Mexico's transport and communications ministry, SCT, will launch tenders for the construction of three passenger train projects, entailing investments worth MXN97bn (US$7.37bn) in early 2014, according to a release from the ministry. The investments will be shared between the public and private sectors. Studies for the Mexico City-Toluca, Yucatán peninsula and Mexico City-Querétaro passenger train projects are 'very advanced', said SCT Undersecretary for transport Carlos Almada (BNamericas). The Mexico City-Toluca project would cost MXN38bn (US$2.89bn), while the Yucatán peninsula project is expected to cost MXN16bn (US$1.22bn). Additionally, the Mexico City-Querétaro project would require an investment worth MXN43bn (US$3.27bn).
