Minister Plans To Scrap IMEI Registration

News: Lebanon Telecoms Minister Boutros Harb will reduce the price of voice calls made through telecoms operator Ogero's prepaid cards. Harb is also planning to scrap a decision requiring the registration of International Mobile Station Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers with the customs department. Prices of phone calls made through the operator's Telecarte and Kalam cards will be reduced to LBP50 (US$0.03) from LBP100 (US$0.06) per minute from a fixed line and to LBP100 (US$0.06) from LBP200 (US$0.13) from a mobile line.
