Merck Sells Ophthalmology Products To Santen

News: US-based pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) has signed an agreement with Japanese pharmaceutical company Santen Pharmaceuticals, under which Santen will purchase Merck's ophthalmology products, in Japan and key European and Asia Pacific markets. The move is part of Merck's ongoing strategy to focus and improve its operational effectiveness, according to president of hospital and specialty care, Jay Galeota. Meanwhile, Santen has made an upfront payment of around USD600mn and additional payments based on defined sales milestones as needed.
