News: Botswana-based mobile operator Mascom has introduced bill payments through its Mascom Mobile Money service, dubbed MyZaka. The new service will enable users, registered with MyZaka, to deposit money at any authorised agent and also make bill payments supported by the MyZaka platform, reports BiztechAfrica, citing information from the Mascom communications desk. Mascom subscribers would be able to pay bills such as Mascom postpaid (contract) bills and DSTV subscription charges using the service.
Mascom is Botswana's leading mobile operator, with over 55% of the market at the end of 9M12. It is 53% owned by MTN, the largest mobile operator in Africa by customer numbers. Mascom first launched services in 1998.
