Leap Wireless Sees Drop In Subscriber Numbers

News: US mobile operator Leap Wireless has reported a net loss of 745,297 subscribers in 2013, due to competition from operator T-Mobile and its brand MetroPCS. Annual service revenues fell 10.8% to US$2.63bn, as the lower subscriber base offset a 6.1% rise in ARPU, mainly owing to uptake of higher-priced smartphone plans and the Muve Music service. Equipment revenues rose 37.3% to US$267.5mn as a result of demand for smartphone. The operator posted an operating loss of US$224.9mn in 2013, compared with a profit of US$157.8mn in 2012.
