KDG's Remedy Package Fails To Address FCO Concerns

News: The German Federal Cartel Office (FCO) has deemed a remedy package offered by Germany-based cable TV operator Kabel Deutschland (KDG) to buy Tele Columbus as insufficient. KDG had offered to divest Tele Columbus' networks in Berlin, Dresden and Cottbus; however, the FCO wanted KDG to sell about 60% of the networks in Eastern Germany. This is double that offered by KDG, which was seeking to address objections raised by the FCO in December 2012. The FCO had stated that the deal could hamper competition in the market.
