Intel Launches Faster Avoton Chip

News: US-based chip maker Intel launched a better performing chip aimed at the microserver market to allow low-power machines to tackle a broader range of computing workloads, reports ZDNet. The company said its Atom-based Avoton SoCs (System on a Chip) increases the processing power, compared to Intel's first generation of microserver series, Centerton. Intel said its latest Avoton-based microservers will be able to tackle tasks demanding higher server-side processing when serving content to the web. The company said that Avoton, which is part of the C2000 series of Atom SoCs, is implemented inside routers, switches, network security appliances and cold storage.
