Indosat Plans Spin-Off Or Sale Of Tower Assets

News: Indonesian mobile operator Indosat is planning to sell or spin-off its mobile network towers in 2015. The operator is considering the divestment to focus on its core business of providing services. The network towers have been a distraction for the operator and it is not considered to be a core business, Indosat CEO Alexander Rusli has said. The operator currently owns around 8,000 towers across the country. In 2012, local telecoms tower firm PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure acquired 2,500 towers from Indosat for US$406mn. The operator has not yet decided if the tower assets will be spun off and operated by a separated firm or they would be divested altogether through a sale and leaseback agreement.
