Indosat Launches Cloud Service

News: Indonesian telecoms operator Indosat launched an enterprise-class public cloud service, called Indosat Cloud, for the Indonesian market in partnership with Dimension Data. The new service leverages managed cloud platform and cloud management system technology of Dimension Data and certified data centres of Indosat. The Indosat Cloud is a public cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering that supports on-demand provisioning of cloud servers with customised CPU, RAM and storage, as well as supervision of compute, storage and networking. Indosat will also launch additional public and private cloud services for its subscribers at end-2012.

BMI View: The launch of Indosat Cloud will enable Indosat to offer advanced broadband services in Indonesia. BMI estimates there will be 2.2mn broadband internet subscribers in 2012 and expects the total to rise 19.2% by 2016 to 2.7mn. During this period penetration will rise from 0.9% to 1%.
