News: Philippines-based ports operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) is making an investment in the construction of its first terminal in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The new terminal will be situated on the bank of the Congo River in Matadi. The project's first phase will have two berths, catering to shipping lines, importers and exporters. Under the second phase, subject to demand, the company will double the capacity and berth length of the terminal, after which it will be able to handle 350,000 tonnes and 120,000 twenty-foot equivalent units annually. The project will be the company's third in the African region after Madagascar and Nigeria.
