News: The Macedonian Ministry of Health has proposed a performance-based pay system for doctors in its latest attempt to modify doctors' salary structure. The new system, if implemented, would grant a 20% bonus to doctors who meet their quota of a specified number of patients on a monthly basis and deduct 20% of the salary if criteria is not met. The changes in the payment structure are intended to reward hard-working medical practitioners and discourage ineffective healthcare practices. While some doctors have welcomed the proposal, others consider it as violation of the legal provisions on wages. Doctors opposing the new provision have asked the ministry to retract the proposal by September 24, threatening to strike if the demand is not fulfilled.
