Grindrod To Focus On Magnetite At Matola Terminal

News: South Africa-based Grindrod is expected to switch its focus to processing magnetite instead of coal at its Matola terminal in Mozambique. The company will make the change once it achieves its target to increase capacity more than twofold. According to Grindrod Terminals commercial executive Sean Rowan, the port aims to increase the processing of minerals from 7.5mn tonnes per year to 20mn tonnes per year by March 2018. The port plans to process 15mn tonnes of magnetite iron ore and 5mn tonnes of coal by 2018. The expansion would happen in phases, with capacity expected to reach 12mn tonnes by July 2016.
