Government To Invest PEN9.27bn In Water Projects
News: The Peruvian government has announced plans to invest PEN9.27bn (US$3.34bn) in water projects that would provide drinking water to Lima and the port of Callao. The government is expected to invest PEN5.63bn (US$1.98bn) in 81 projects to expand the drinking water services and sewage system, reports Andina, citing the Peruvian Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation René Cornejo Díaz. The water projects, which are expected to benefit 1.8mn residents, are scheduled to last until 2017. Additionally, the projects would be entirely financed with debt and government proceeds.
