Government To Allow ILO To Monitor Cotton Harvest

News: The government of Uzbekistan has allowed the International Labor Organization (ILO) to send a mission to monitor the country's cotton harvest, which is expected to start in mid-September. The mission would involve 'cooperation with the Uzbek authorities who have the mandate to deal with child labour issues, as well as with experts from employers' organisations and trade unions,' said ILO spokesperson Hans von Rohland ( The local participants would receive training from ILO, which would increase the credibility and reliability of the monitoring process, according to Von Rohland.
