Government Starts Public Consultancy For BRL495mn Highway
News: The state government of Brazil's Pernambuco state has invited public suggestions for the construction of a public-private partnership based federal highway project worth BRL495mn (US$224mn), according to a release by the Pernambuco government. The project's 25-year concession is aimed at reconstructing and maintaining a 125km-streach of federal highway BR-232. Under the concession, the successful concession holder will receive BRL2.67bn (US$1.21bn) over the entire concession period, wherein the government will make a monthly payment of BRL8.9mn (US$4.04mn). The move comes following an expression of interest submitted by a Brazilian consortium, comprising Odebrecht Transport Participações, Queiroz Galvão, and Investimentos e Participações em Infraestrutura. Interested parties are required to submit comments, suggestions or express interest by November 5 2013, after which a tender will be launched.
