Fiocruz Workers Union Extends Strike

News: Workers at the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) in Brazil have gone on strike. The strike was extended on August 23 after a meeting between workers' union representatives and the Department of Labour Relations at the Ministry of Planning the previous dty. The indefinite industrial strike, which began on August 6, was called by the workers demanding better wages and career prospects. According to the union, there has been a 20% decline in wages since the last adjustment in 2009, which would result in three years' worth of lost wages.
