ExxonMobil To Pay US$2.7mn Fine For Arkansas Spill

News: ExxonMobil faces a US$2.7mn fine for a spill in Arkansas in March 2012, The Courant reports. Approximately 5,000 barrels of oil spilled in Mayflower, Arkansas after the 70-year-old Pegasus pipeline ruptured. The 95,000 barrels a day pipeline has been closed since the incident. The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration found nine probable violations of safety violations and said in August 2013 that an original manufacturing defect by a now-defunct company may have led to do the spill. Exxon said it was disappointed with the decision but was cooperating with the investigation.
