News: Ecuadorian state-run telecoms provider Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) will invest US$30mn in the initial launch of 4G LTE mobile broadband services, reports El Universo, citing CNT's general manager, Cesar Regalado. The services are scheduled to be rolled-out between May and June. The 1,900MHz frequency band would be utilised to offer LTE coverage in urban areas, while 700MHz spectrum will be used to cover a broader rural footprint. The provider is set to become the first operator in the country to make use of 30MHz in the 700MHz band and 40MHz in the 2,100MHz band, for the deployment of LTE.
