News: Albanian mobile operator Eagle Mobile is set to roll out a 3G mobile network in January 2013. Initially, the operator will launch the service in Tirane, the capital city of Albania. This will be followed by the launch of the service throughout the country. The operator has installed the 3G network for Dual-Carrier HSPA+ services, giving access to 42Mbps of peak download speeds, according to Eagle Mobile Director Murat Cakmak. The Dual Carrier technology is expected to benefit all Albanians, Cakmak added.
Eagle Mobile is the mobile unit of fixed-line incumbent Albtelecom and was the third mobile operator to launch when it began commercial operations in March 2008. The other two operators are Cosmote-backed market leader AMC and Vodafone Albania.
