Diana Shipping Signs Agreement To Purchase Dry Bulk Carrier

News: Greece-based dry bulk operator Diana Shipping entered into a memorandum of agreement on December 20 to purchase a dry bulk carrier from an unaffiliated third party seller. The new-building Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier has a capacity of 82,131 deadweight tonnage and was constructed by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Company. The vessel, to be named Myrto, has been purchased at a price of US$26.5mn and is scheduled to be handed over to the company by the sellers at end-January 2013. Diana Shipping signed the agreement through a separate wholly owned subsidiary. Meanwhile, the company also signed a term loan facility with Nordea Bank Finland on December 20 to partially finance the purchase of two newly built post-Panamax dry bulk carriers.
