Country's Non-EU Imports Rise 35% In Q114

News: Spain is increasing its fresh fruit and vegetable imports from non-EU countries, despite the non-EU block slowly clawing back the deficit. The country's fresh produce imports rose 35% year-on-year to 621,353 tonnes in Q114. Of this, 232,976 tonnes (37.5%) came from non-EU countries, while the EU nations accounted for 388,377 tonnes (62.5%) in Q114. Total import value reached EUR419mn (USD702.50mn) during the quarter, with EUR228.5mn (USD383.1mn) of fresh produce coming from non-EU countries (54%) and EUR190.5mn (USD319.38mn) coming from the EU (46%).
