Canadian National Railway Reports 12.2% Jump In Profits

News: Canadian National Railway registered a profit of CAD623mn (USD564.5mn) in Q114, up 12.2% year-on-year, with the railway operator's revenues rising 9% to CAD2.69bn (USD2.44bn). This rise was mainly attributed to a weaker Canadian dollar compared with US dollar denominated billings and rate increases. The increase was also driven by higher volumes due to robust energy markets, reports TransREporter, citing a company press release. Canadian National Railway reported an 11% increase in operating expenses to CAD1.9bn (USD1.72bn) in the same period.
