Boncolac Invests In A New Manufacturing Plant For Deli Products

News: France-based patisserie maker Boncolac is actively expanding its deli products with an investment in a new manufacturing facility in south-west France, reports Just Food. The company said it will replace a smaller plant with the facility, located near Agen, which is being built on a business park occupied by numerous companies that specialise in food-related activities. Boncolac is investing about US$11.8mn in machinery and equipment with plans to employ about 100 staff in the plant.

BMI View: Total food consumption in France is forecast to experience only moderate growth over our forecast period, with consumption levels already quite high and future growth impacted by the poor economic outlook, which will continue to weigh on consumer confidence. Between 2012 and 2017 we forecast that food consumption, measured in local currency terms, will increase by 8.3% to reach a value of EUR144.3bn. Meanwhile, per capita consumption is expected to increase by 5.6% in local currency terms between 2012 and 2017, reaching EUR2,219.
