BIPT Reports Decline In Combined Turnover

News: The Belgian Institute for Post and Telecommunications (BIPT) has revealed results for the country's telecoms sector for 2012. The combined turnover from fixed and mobile services declined to EUR7.18bn (US$9.33bn) both in terms of wholesale and retail offerings in 2012. The mobile sector was badly hit by further reductions to call termination and interconnection rates. In the reported period, fixed voice revenues also recorded a drop to EUR1.24bn (US$1.62bn), compared with EUR1.33bn (US$1.73bn) in 2011. Meanwhile, turnover from fixed broadband services and mobile voice services slipped to EUR1.26bn (US$1.64bn) and EUR1.82bn (US$2.37bn) respectively in 2012. However, revenues from mobile broadband posted an increase of 70% y-o-y to EUR340mn (US$442.84mn) in the reported period.
