Average Grain Journey Cost Drops 1.2% In 2014

News: The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board's UK Grain Haulage Survey 2014 has found a 1.2% year-on-year decline in average journey costs. The average journey costs GBP8.43 (USD14.2) a tonne in 2014, compared with GBP8.53 (USD14.3) a tonne in 2013. Although the survey found a decline in journey costs for distances of less than 80 miles, they were higher for longer journeys. The survey, which included 227 journeys across the UK, found varying changes in costs, depending on distance and region. According to the survey, the cost of a journey of 90 miles or more was the highest since 2004.
